On my creative process
I strongly believe that the creative process begins with observation in a broad sense. Not necessarily a guided or goal-oriented observation, or one that is directly connected to a specific artistic objective, but simply being present in ordinary moments — noticing everyday banalities, watching people talking and interacting in a park, observing the sky and the birds at the beach, and being with friends or family while truly listening and paying attention to their stories and to who they are.
Honestly, I believe this practice, almost like an exercise, helps us keep our gaze attentive and, most importantly, brings new perspectives that emerge precisely from this attention, from this presence.
Another key point for me when starting to take an idea off the page and develop it, to structure it, is trying to keep the mind (even if only a little) free — free even from what I initially set out to make or create, in the sense of not being trapped by ideals or expectations. And I believe that because of this, collage has become the type of art I most enjoy making, and the medium through which I can perhaps translate some of what exists in my head, transforming ideas and fragments of scattered thoughts into art.
